At the unveiling
Five of the Old Boys on the board were there in February 2026 when it was unveiled outside the STEAM Precinct: David Weightman '88, Neil Martin '72, Richard Powell '78, Toby Jenkins '97 and Ned McKendry '09.

In their words
Richard Powell '78, who rowed for Australia in the Men's Quadruple Sculls at Seoul 1988 and Barcelona 1992, credits the School with uncovering his potential: "BGS gave me an opportunity to try a sport I'd never done before. They nurtured an untapped talent that blossomed into something exceptional and took me to the Olympic Games."
His advice to boys hoping to follow: "Anything is possible. Dream big and pursue your dreams with a single-minded focus. There is nothing truer than the School motto Nil Sine Labore: work hard, work smart and never let setbacks deter you."
Neil Martin '72, who swam the 100m and 200m backstroke and the individual medley at Munich 1972, added: "My advice would be to establish a challenging goal and to stick to it no matter what the adversity. That will stand you in good stead for your whole life."
