Another year has passed, and another has been entered upon, and it again falls to our lot to welcome the new arrivals. In the interval between the first appearance of a boy in lower School and his departure from the highest form in Upper School, much happens. He plays games, he makes friends, warmer friends, perhaps, than those he will make in later years; he studies boys, books, and masters, and his whole character is moulded in a furnace of joys, trials and disappointments.
In welcoming the new boys, we must not forget to say a few words of farewell to those of you who have left us. We wish you all God-speed. Remember that though you are advancing through life, you have not totally left us. You have left your record with us, and we hope that you will always keep in touch with the old School, through the medium of the Old Boys' Association.

The President for 1913–14 was Mr. J. J. Walsh. At the 1914 Annual General Meeting Mr. Justice L. O. Lukin was elected President for 1914–15; Mr. J. G. Nowlan continued as Hon. Secretary & Treasurer. From the second half of the year the Association's work turned to recording Old Boys answering the "Call" to enlist.

In this era, an Old Boy's year designation was the year he entered Grammar; the convention today is the year he finished. A boy who started in 1993 and finished in 1997 was (93) but is now '97.
