The foremost thing in my mind as I write this message is the fact that our all-important Centenary Year is but fourteen short months away. I am therefore making a strong appeal to all Old Boys to band together and assist in making this a resounding success.
Consider for a moment the tremendous importance of such an event for any school — but particularly, Brisbane Grammar. After all we are Brisbane's oldest school, and therefore the whole of Brisbane will be watching us — THE SCHOOL WILL BE ON SHOW.
How can you help? Firstly if you are not an active and financial Old Boy then contact your Association and remedy this. (Remember we now have our own room at the School suitably equipped.) Then most importantly, support the Association and the School in all its facets and help, further, with Public Relations efforts whenever you get the opportunity.
You will all appreciate that during the next twelve months there will be a great deal of planning to do, and once again your support here, plus any suggestions, will be welcome.
Perhaps you may feel I have laboured the importance of our Centenary Year but I sincerely believe that it cannot be over-stressed, as this forms an impressive milestone in the progress of a School which has contributed greatly to Brisbane itself and indeed Australia.
Finally I would like to congratulate the School and all directly concerned with it on giving us once again a tremendously successful year both academically and in the field of sport.

Subscription — Annual: $2, due in advance on 1st July. Boys who join immediately on leaving school, $1, including badge, to the 30th June. Life Membership: $40. Badge: 50c. (Decimal currency, introduced February 1966, replaces the pre-1966 pounds-shillings-pence figures.)
While John Terence Berry was at the School from 1951 to 1954, he took an active part in various phases of School activities: in 1952 he was Cox of the First Crew. Later he served as a Prefect and passed the Senior in 1954. On leaving School he entered the commercial world and gained his Degree in Commerce as a part-time student in spite of the demands of his job. He has risen to be Manager of a large retail firm in Brisbane.
He has evidenced his continuing interest in the School by his service on the O.B.A. Council over a number of years and has shown his organizing ability and enthusiasm in his work on committees such as for the Old Boys' Rowing Club and the Grammar Ball. In keeping with his versatility he now lives at Samford where in his leisure time he demonstrates his belief that our basic wealth comes from the land.
At this year's Meeting the Council, concerned that revenue was not keeping up with expenditure, had recommended an increase in the Annual Subscription. After much discussion, the Meeting agreed, though not to the figure recommended. The new rate will apply as from 1st July, 1967.
The Headmaster gave a very interesting account of School activities throughout the year, instancing that at the School's Athletics Meeting there were 986 competitors, and noting that boys were being enrolled at birth — he emphasized the need for Old Boys wishing to enrol their sons to do so at the earliest opportunity. Mr. Howell also expressed appreciation of the greatly improved facilities provided by the opening in August of the new Administration Block; as a result the School has made available a room for the Old Boys' Association, which is now the O.B.A. Headquarters. Mr. R. A. Henderson, Chairman of the Centenary Building Fund, explained the progress of the scheme, mentioning that the second stage had begun, i.e. the building of the Manual Training Block.
On Saturday, February 26th, the usual sporting contests were held between School Teams and Old Boys' Teams. W. Kidston, Senr., organized the cricket; H. A. Becconsall, the tennis; L. G. Cooksley, the shooting; S. Corone, the rowing; and D. G. Robbins, the swimming.
In the Great Hall during the afternoon, presentations were made of various awards, mostly to new boys, including a number of sons of Old Boys, as follows:

In this era, an Old Boy's year designation was the year he entered Grammar; the convention today is the year he finished. A boy who started in 1993 and finished in 1997 was (93) but is now '97.
