"Gentlemen, I am pleased to be able to present a report of yet another successful year of operations for our Association, during which we have welcomed a very healthy interest from those students who left the school at the end of the 1990 academic year, and this interest has been maintained by the school leavers of [1991].. Once again, I was privileged to receive the Headmaster's official invitation to attend the Foundation Day Ceremony at the School on Friday 28th February, on which occasion it was my pleasure to present the R. H. Roe Scholarship to Simon Mark Jenner, who has commenced studies for a Commerce/Law Degree, and the J. G. Nowlan Bursary to Daniel Lyongjun Lee who has commenced studies at the school this year. As always, even to one who has attended these celebrations for nearly thirty years, the Foundation Day Ceremony continues to be an absorbing reminder of the history and traditions of the School."

Brisbane Grammar School has a distinguished history, a history of intellectuals and champions. This School has an academic and sporting reputation matched by very few. Brisbane Grammar places a lot of emphasis upon its history and tradition. We should respect our tradition.
With commitment and effort, the opportunities exist at BGS to achieve anything you aspire to. The reality is that you are able to attain the highest possible goals in academic, artistic, cultural and sporting pursuits if you wish. If you don't take advantage of the opportunities that abound, you are wasting your time and not doing justice to yourself.
But for all of us as students of Grammar, the present and future are of much greater importance. Our future lies in our own hands, and in 1992 each one of us has an opportunity to play a role in the great tradition of Brisbane Grammar School. Become involved, set goals, strive for excellence and accept no less. We must grasp all our opportunities with both hands and shake every bit of life out of them, so that when, on the last day, we walk out of the school gates for the final time, we will not be haunted by regrets; we must be convinced in our own minds that we have achieved everything we possibly could; that the school is a better place for us having been here; and that we are better people for having attended.
This year, the prefects will be working to maintain a suitable learning environment and to keep the standards of BGS high. The prefects are not a privileged group; we have responsibilities, and during the course of the year you may be asked by prefects to perform certain tasks. Likewise, motivating and encouraging the student body to achieve the highest in their endeavours is a priority of the prefects. Everyone who competes for BGS deserves the support of their peers; extra support will be the element which boosts school spirit and gives BGS an edge over other schools this year.
Your years at Grammar can be the most enjoyable of your life. You can still make a concerted effort with your studies while involving yourself in the broad range of interests the school provides. Focus on "to strive, to seek, to find and not to yield" and you can achieve greatly in 1992. As School Captain, I wish each of you success in all your endeavours this year.
