The 1905 School Magazine

Since our last issue a new editor has been appointed, the retiring editor, H. T. Bourne, having to work this year for the Sydney Senior Exam. The present editor hopes to give his readers every satisfaction.

In the current number of the Magazine are given our scores in the first quarterly cadets' shooting match, as well as the scores of the Maryborough, Ipswich, and annual Old Boys' cricket match. Our First Cricket Team has been doing fairly well in its grade (B Grade Senior) this season, and at present is well up on the list.

This issue also contains an account of the Annual Swimming Sports. The entries this year were very numerous, and the events were eagerly contested. A new feature at the Swimming Sports this year was the Obstacle race, for which there were 49 entries.

We have much pleasure in stating that 9 candidates from the School passed the Sydney Senior Exam last year, gaining several medals. Castlehow also secured the Sydney Senior Prize; Norman Leslie secured the Rhodes' Scholarship this year. The Empire Shooting Team was not so successful as last year, although we came top of the Australian Schools.

The President for 1904–05 was Mr. F. J. Heussler. At the 1905 Annual General Meeting Mr. C. W. Costin was elected President for 1905–06 (he and Mrs. Costin entertained members at a function, and Mr. Costin gave a paper on "Joseph Chamberlain"). The Association continued its lecture evenings, reunions and sport.
