"Gentlemen, I am pleased to be able to present a report of yet another successful year of operations for our Association, during which we welcomed a healthy interest from past students who left the school at the end of the 1992 academic year. Before continuing with my report, I must pause to give thanks to our Past President the late Norm Vincent, who was responsible for many projects instituted between the School and the Association. Norm will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
The Annual Reunion Dinner for 1992 was combined with the Grammar Sportsman's Dinner and was held at Ballymore on the 7th August.. the presentation of the Alex Evans Award to Norm Hirst was well received by all, and the night also saw Norm Hirst presented with Honorary Life Membership of the Old Boys' Association.. In my opinion, undoubtedly the most important event of 1992 was the conduct of the Association's Life Membership Ceremony. This saw the recognition of nearly eighty members who have reached retirement age after maintaining continuous financial membership for periods in excess of thirty-five years — indeed many of these have been continuous members since their first year out of School."

At the Foundation Day Ceremony — which marked the commencement of the School's 125th year — the Governor of Queensland made the presentation of:
As the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Howard Stack, was unable to attend, Mr. Stuart Bale was asked to make the other presentations, representing both the Board of Trustees and the Old Boys' Association. The President also reported that membership had grown strongly (now over 1,260, up from 750 not many years earlier), and that Mr. Howard Stack had announced at the last Speech Night his support for the concept of all school leavers becoming members of the Association.

Brisbane Grammar School has developed a distinguished reputation for excellence over the past one hundred and twenty-five years. I believe that in 1993 we will continue this tradition. I put it to you, the students, to honour and to build on what has gone before us. This year Brisbane Grammar is commemorating its one hundred and twenty-fifth year. Since its founding in 1869 the School has held pride of place as one of Queensland's, if not Australia's, premier schools. It is up to us, the students, to ensure that the traditions of the School are continued, and enhanced, throughout the year.
To be able to do this, I encourage all of you to give your best, whether it be in the classroom, on the playing field, in the orchestra, or in whatever you do. Be active. Try new activities. Make 1993 a year to be remembered as one of Grammar's greatest, and as a unique year for each of you.
The sixth form this year have completed their four-year apprenticeship and have graduated to be the leaders of the School. They have earned leadership by virtue of their knowledge and experience of the life associated with B.G.S. Follow their example and you will go far; neglect it and you will be the poorer. It is an aim of this year's Prefects to maintain and further the School's reputation through dedication, commitment and a careful nurturing of all available talent from Form 2 to Form 6. School cohesion is another major aim: Brisbane Grammar is not interested solely in the Seniors. Everyone is important. School spirit is a quality that pervades all, not just a valued few. B.G.S. desires its students to be responsible, effective, creative, enterprising and happy; to achieve such a goal we must help and support each other.
Consider the School's motto — Nil Sine Labore, nothing without labour. Always try a little bit harder, always strive to excel. Remember at all times that the proud reputation of Brisbane Grammar School was established through dedication to whatever task was in hand. The School has grown through numerous generations of students always with a steady outlook to the future, and it is to the future that we must look. If I may quote: "Not in time, place or circumstance, but in the man lies success." Therefore, the key to Brisbane Grammar's success this year lies within each of us. As School Captain, I wish you a productive and [rewarding year].

School Captain 1993 was Cameron Brownjohn (Vice-Captain: Lachlan Given). OBA President was Neil Summerson (62), following the death of Past President Norm Vincent.
In this era, an Old Boy's year designation was the year he entered Grammar; the convention today is the year he finished. A boy who started in 1993 and finished in 1997 was (93) but is now '97.
