Grammar News Winter 2026

One of the most pleasing things I've noticed is just how many Old Boys enjoy a family connection with Brisbane Grammar School.

In February, we held our President's Drinks where we welcomed the newest Old Boy dads, whose sons have just begun their journey at BGS.

To mark the occasion, the OBA presented them with a cap with their graduation year embroidered on the back. Attendance continues to grow each year, as more Old Boys enrol their sons.

Whether it's been 20, 30 or 40 years since they walked out the gates as a student, coming back as a father is very familiar. It's the same place, only better. Parts of the School are identical, but you notice how much the campus has evolved. The School's façade has changed significantly, but the fabric at its core hasn't. Most importantly, you still see the same familiar faces like Mr Micallef, Ms Zervos, Mr Uscinski, Mr Price or Mr Dabelstein. The same teachers who mentored us are now shaping our sons.

In further news, the OBA is proud to announce bursary support for two more students with immediate needs, so they can complete Year 11 and 12. The OBA commenced this initiative in 2025, and we are now supporting four students to complete their schooling at Brisbane Grammar.

The OBA's core objective is to facilitate connection between Old Boys. Whether it's a business breakfast, lunch or golf day, we regularly have Old Boys in the room spanning from 18 to well over 80 years old — sometimes third, fourth, or fifth-generation families. To me this speaks volumes for the character of the School and its community.

As we look to the next generation, if you've got a son, or one on the way, I encourage you to put his name down early, ready for the next family chapter at BGS.
